Performance fabrics are the superheroes of the fabric world. They're strong, durable, and easy to care for, making them the perfect choice for high-traffic areas and homes with active lifestyles, muddy paws, and little sticky fingers. The performance fabrics available today offer the durability your family and lifestyle need and endless style solutions so you don't have to sacrifice style over function.
As I started to hang and display all of the beautiful fabrics in my soon-to-be-open shop this week, it made me think about sharing more about performance fabrics. They sometimes get a bad rap for being uncomfortable or not as stylish and eye-pleasing as a nonperformance fabric. This couldn't be farther from the truth! Read on for my thoughts and facts about this fabulous fabric.
Performance fabrics are made from various materials, including olefin, acrylic, nylon, and polyester. These materials are naturally stain-resistant and water-repellent, and they can also be treated with additional solutions to enhance their performance properties.
Some of the most common performance fabrics include:
Sunbrella: This fabric is made from 100% acrylic and is known for its exceptional durability and weather resistance. Sunbrella is often used for outdoor furniture and cushions, as it can withstand even the harshest conditions.
Crypton: This fabric is made from a polyester and nylon blend and is treated with a stain-resistant finish. Crypton is a popular choice for indoor furniture, as it is easy to clean and resists spills and stains.
Sensuede: This fabric is made from a soft, luxurious synthetic suede material. Sensuede is stain-resistant and water-repellent, making it a good choice for homes with children or pets.
Performance fabrics offer several advantages over traditional materials, including:
Durability: Performance fabrics are designed to withstand heavy use and abuse. They are less likely to tear, fade, or stain than traditional fabrics.
Easy care: Performance fabrics are easy to clean and maintain. Most spills and stains can be removed with a damp cloth or mild detergent.
Versatile: Performance fabrics come in various colors, patterns, and textures. Which makes them easy to work with to create a beautiful and functional home.
If your lifestyle and family demand it, performance fabrics can provide many benefits compared to traditional fabrics. They are tough, low maintenance, and adaptable. They are an excellent choice if you desire a fabric that can endure the long haul and help a little with raising the kiddos with a tad bit less stress!
